Who We Are
We are a volunteer-staffed, 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-denominational, non-governmental organization. We rely on individuals, foundations, congregations, civic organizations, state agencies, and corporate partners to provide the funding, materials, and facilities for our work.
Mission
The New Mexico Ramp Project builds ramps for people in New Mexico with mobility issues at no cost, without regard to race, religion, ethnicity, age, or gender.
Vision
Our vision is that no New Mexico resident with mobility issues shall lack safe access to their residence because of financial limitations.
History
The New Mexico Ramp Project (NMRP) grew out of the great work that the Texas Ramp Project started. As they built more than 17,000 ramps throughout Texas, they developed the Corporate structure and ramp building procedures for an outstanding program. They have freely shared these with us, and for this we thank them. The Texas Ramp Project has, as of November 2024, built 28,386 ramps.
The New Mexico Ramp Project was formed as a New Mexico nonprofit corporation in July of 2019. 501(c)(3) charitable status was received from the Internal Revenue Service, allowing donations to be tax deductible. We are fortunate to have had Doug Rowley as our original Executive Director because of his extensive experience working with the Texas Ramp project for more than four years. In 2020, Greg Hallstrom became the Executive Director and has managed the growth of NMRP.
NMRP is a totally volunteer organization which allows us to put the bulk of donations into materials and tools which help disabled individuals break the isolation resulting from the difficulty of getting in and out of their homes.
Currently, we are able to build ramps in Bernallilo, Chaves, Cibola, Dona Ana, Eddy, Lea, Los Alamos, Luna, Rio Arriba, Roosevelt, San Juan, Sandoval, Santa Fe, Torrance, and Valencia counties. We have fabrication facilities for construction of ramp modules in Albuquerque, Acoma, Belen, Española, Hobbs, Los Lunas, Las Cruces, and Shiprock.
